What is the meaning of keyboard keys F1, F2 to F12? Complete information
On every
computer keyboard, we see Keys from F1 to F12, but we generally don’t know the
meaning or working of these keys. Can you tell me what their job is? Of-course,
these Keys are awesome and if you have knowledge of these, then many of your
tasks will be too easy and you will be too handy with your keyboard. Here every
key has been installed for some special work and gives you an extra advantage. So
let's know about the working of Keys from F1, F2 to F12 ...
F1:
If you press F1 while booting on the computer, you will enter into the computer
programming setup. From here you can
check the settings, controls and make changes to them directly.
F2:
F2 is a special key that is used to rename a file in the Windows operating
system. Not only this, after using the F2 key in any Microsoft Word, you can
also view the print preview option of that file which you want to print.
F3:
In Windows operating system, you will see the search option using the F3 Key.
After pressing it, you can find any required file or folder. At the same instant of time, pressing the F3 in the MS-DOS operating system rewrites the command which you write previously.
F4: The
working of the F4 key, the previously done work is repeated by pressing it in any Microsoft
Word. That means, the word that you typed earlier will be retyped for you once,
or any such type of thing can be easily repeated.
F5: You probably used this key before because F5 is most commonly used to refresh the computer, but one more amazing thing is that pressing it also initiates the slideshow of the PowerPoint.
F6:
By pressing the key F6 of the keyboard, the contents of open Folders are
visible in Windows. And most amazingly, F6 is used by pressing Control + Shift
+ F6 to see multiple documents open in Microsoft Word one by one.
F7: If you press this useful F7 key in MS Word, after that you will type
anything, the spelling of that word will be checked automatically, means your
own grammar assistant.
F8: F8 is used generally to choose
any text in Microsoft Word.
F9: F9 is the key that is used generally to send or receive emails in
Microsoft Outlook. At the same instant time, in many new systems or newly
coming laptops, the brightness level of the screen can also be controlled with
the help of this key.
F10: If you press this key F10 while working in any software, then the
main menu of that software will open. Apart from this, when you press F10 with
Shift, it works like a right click of your mouse. So you can use right click of a mouse without having it
F11: F11 is a most useful shortcut key for full-screen viewing in any
Internet browsers so easily.
F12: Pressing this
key F12 in Microsoft Word opens the option of Save As. Microsoft files can be saved by pressing the
key F12 with the Shift key.
Note: Most of these
keys are working best in pc because in new laptops some of these keys are now
replaced by volume up-down, brightness, etc.
